Renew a Virginia Teaching Certification
Gain the credentials you need

In order to renew your 5-year Virginia Teaching Certification, you will need to satisfy the following requirements:

You will need to develop an individualized renewal plan that is based on professional development goals of a Virginia Highly Qualified teacher and the goals of your employing school district staff development desires.

You will need to initiate annual meetings with an advisor to review your Virginia teaching certification renewal plan.

You will need to submit a complete Virginia renewal card.

You will need to submit a complete Individual Renewal Record that verifies that you have completed 180 renewal points over the previous 5 years.

Submit a processing fee of $25 by check or money order that is made payable to the "Virginia Department of Education"
