Steps to renewing your certification

• Oklahoma Teacher License Renewal
The Oklahoma license is valid for 1-year before it must either be renewed or converted to an Oklahoma teacher certification.

A license may not be renewed if the teacher has been teaching for two years and has still not been recommended for a certification.

The following is the procedure to turn a License into a Certification:
• You will need to have taught for one year under the Oklahoma Teaching License.
• You will need to complete a Resident Teacher Program and be recommended for certification by a district administrator.
• You will need to pass the professional education competency exams. Find information at the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation Website.
• Download the Application for the Oklahoma Teacher Certification.
• Oklahoma Standard Certification Renewal:
The standard Oklahoma certification is valid for 5 years before it must be renewed.
