If you hold a valid teaching certification from any state, you are eligible to apply for a teaching certification in Oklahoma in the same subject.
The following is a list of must do's in order to apply for your certification in Oklahoma.

- You must file a criminal history report with the Oklahoma State Board of Education.

Fingerprints may be taken electronically at the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) OR,

Have your fingerprints taken at your local sheriff's office. You must first contact the OSDE by email at certforms@sde.state.ok.us, by calling (405) 521-3337 or by regular mail:

If you have one or more years of teaching experience, you will be applying for an Oklahoma Teaching Certification. Otherwise, you will need to apply for the Oklahoma Teaching License. Download your the Oklahoma Certification or License Application.

Provide official transcripts from all college credits received.

Verify out-of-state teaching experience by having an administrator from your employing district complete the appropriate form that is available for download on the OSBE's website at http://sde.state.ok.us
- Enclose a photocopy of your valid teaching certificate.
- Contact the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation to find out what exams are required for your desired certification.
