Earn your Initial Teaching Certification in North Carolina:

• North Carolina Initial Teaching Certification


The Initial North Carolina Teacher Certification is valid for 5-years.


• Step 1:
  You must have completed a teacher preparation program from an accredited institution. Teacher Preparation Programs.


• University of Phoenix
• Walden University
• Capella University
• Ashford University


• Step 2:
  Pass teacher competency examinations:
  • Praxis I and Praxis II
  • Gather information from the ETS Website.


• Step 3:
  Complete the North Carolina Initial Teacher Certification Application: Form A


• Step 4:
  Submit Official Transcripts of all college credits you've received.


• Step 5:
  Have your teacher ed. university verify the completion of your teacher education program with Form V. This form is included within the initial teacher certificate application packet.


• Step 6:


You will need to include an $85 processing fee by check or money-order made payable to the "Department of Public Instruction"
