Earn your Initial Teaching Certification in North Carolina:
Satisfy the following requirements and complete the following steps to earn your Initial Teacher Certification in North Carolina.
- North Carolina Initial Teaching Certification
- Step 1:You must have completed a teacher preparation program from an accredited institution. Teacher Preparation Programs.
- Step 2:Pass teacher competency examinations:
- Praxis I and Praxis II
- Gather information from the ETS Website.
- Step 3:Complete the North Carolina Initial Teacher Certification Application: Form A

Step 4:Submit Official Transcripts of all college credits you've received.
- Step 5:Have your teacher ed. university verify the completion of your teacher education program with Form V. This form is included within the initial teacher certificate application packet.
- Step 6:
The Initial North Carolina Teacher Certification is valid for 5-years.
You will need to include an $85 processing fee by check or money-order made payable to the "Department of Public Instruction"
