New York Certification Renewal:

  • Renewal Instructions
  • The Initial New York Teacher's Certification is valid for 5 years. During the life of your initial certification, you will need to complete certain prerequisites of professional development, either through earning a master's degree, a national board certification or a certain amount of semester hours of professional training.

    Once you have earned your Professional Certification, this certification is valid continuously as long as you fulfill professional development requirements on a 5-year cycle.
