New York Teacher Reciprocity:
- Receiving a New York Teaching Certification
- You must pass the LAST exam and whatever other New York State Teacher Certification Examinations apply. Visit their website to find more information.

Pass the content examination.

Pass the teaching skills assessment.
- You must complete a fingerprint supported background clearance check.

If you are currently residing in another state and have completed a teacher preparation program, there are two main options you have for receiving a New York Teacher Certification.
If you have at least three years of teaching experience OR, have completed a teacher preparation program and received a comparable certification from a state with a reciprocity agreement with New York, you are eligible to apply for a New York Conditional Teaching Certification.
If you have at least three years of teaching experience OR, have completed a teacher preparation program and received a comparable certification from a state with a reciprocity agreement with New York, you are eligible to apply for a New York Conditional Teaching Certification.
