New Jersey Certification Renewal:
- Renewal Instructions
-
If you are wishing to convert a Provisional Certification to a Standard Certification, you must complete at least one year of teaching experience as well as complete a teacher induction/mentoring program before being recommended for the Standard Certification.
-
Once you have a Standard Certification you will create, or should have already created, a Professional Improvement Plan (PIP) . This plan will outline you intended professional development obligations.
-
In order to keep your Standard Certification valid, you must complete 100 clock hours of professional development every 5 years.
-
You will need to send verification of professional development either in the form of official transcripts from an educational institution, or some form of verification from the professional training organization you have received training from, to the New Jersey DOE Office of Licensing and Credentials.
In New Jersey, you will be instructed on how to maintain and keep valid your standard certification. There is not a specific renewal policy, however, there are pay increase increments for those who accumulate educational credits, such as completing educational master's programs.
