- Route 2: Nevada Alternative Teacher Certification
Nevada offers one alternative option to certification. However, this option is not like many states where an applicant may enter the classroom without any prior teacher preparation.
In Nevada, you must have entered and completed the majority of a teacher preparation program. You may be eligible for a Nevada Alternative Teaching Certification if you only have 6 semester hours left to complete out of your program.
If you qualify, you will receive a 3 year, non-renewable teaching certification.
You will need to finish your teacher education before the expiration of your 3-year certification in order to be eligible for a 5-year renewable teaching certificate.
