Minnesota Teacher Reciprocity:
If you are currently residing in another state and have completed a teacher preparation program, you may be eligible for a Minnesota Teacher Certification.
The following are requirements and steps to be taken in order to apply for a Minnesota Teacher Certification as an out-of-state candidate.

- Step 1:Pass teacher competency examinations:
- Praxis I and Praxis II
- Gather information from the ETS Website.
- Step 2:Complete the Human Relations Progam or a similar program from your state. Call (651) 582-8691 for more information.

Step 3:The will need to download an Application for Minnesota Licensure
- Step 4:Include a front and back copy of your valid teaching license and of your teacher preparation program requirements and descriptions. This information is needed to determine whether your teacher education is similar to those approved by the state of Minnesota.
- Step 5:Section 5 of the application must be completed by your teacher education institution's certification officer.

- $57 by check or money order for application processing made payable to the "Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Education"
- $31 by cashier's check or money order for fingerprint processing made payable to the "Bureau of Criminal Apprehensions"
If the previous two pre-requisites are not satisfied, but all others are, you may be eligible for a 1-year temporary licensure while you complete the remaining requirements for a Professional Teaching Certification.
You will need to complete a background check through the state of Minnesota and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.
Request Fingerprint cards from the Minnesota Department of Education by calling (651) 582-8691.
You will need to take fingerprint cards to be completed at any Law Enforcement Office in Minnesota.
You will also need to include a money order or cashier's check in the amount of $31 made payable to the "Bureau of Criminal Apprehensions" in your licensure application packet for fingerprint and criminal background processing.
