Louisiana Teacher Reciprocity

If you have a valid teaching certification from another state, you may be eligible for a Louisiana Teaching Certification through reciprocity agreements.

There are two certificates available for out-of-state applicants, Level 1 Professional Certificate and the Out-of-State Certificate depending on whether you have fulfilled competency examination requirements or not.

You will need to provid the following items in your application packet for the Out-of-State Louisiana Teacher Certification:
  • Official Transcripts
  • Teacher Competency Examination Scores (if applicable)
  • Provide front and back copies of your current, valid teaching certificate.
  • Include a $50 processing fee in the form of money-order or check to the "Louisiana Department of Education"
  • Professional Conduct Form
  • LaTAAP (if applicable)
