Applicants will have one year to satisfy the AEPA proficiency exams; however,
- The Professional Knowledge exam may be waived if the applicant has completed three years of satisfactory teaching experience.
- The Subject Knowledge exam may be waived if the applicant holds a Master's degree in the field of applicants teaching subject area.

Both exams may be waived if the applicant holds a current certificate from the National Board of 0Professional Teaching Standards.
